Sin City, also known as the Entertainment Capital of the Globe, is located in the center of the southern Nevada desert. The hotels in Las Vegas are massive casino resorts, lavishly decorated and a high attention to detail that evoke a wonderland type environment.
Las Vegas is the biggest city in the state of Nevada and is internationally famous, as a major hotel and resort city, for gambling, shopping, and entertainment. The name often incorporates the areas of Clark County that border the city, especially the resort areas near the Las Vegas Strip. This four-and-a-half mile length of Boulevard is almost entirely outside the city limits, in the unincorporated districts of Paradise and Winchester.
Sin City offers numerous opportunities to gamble, even at the small grocery stores and at McCarran airport. However, please be aware that in Las Vegas as well as all of Nevada state law stipulates that all gamblers must be at least 21 years of age.
Several important events lead to Las Vegas becoming a world famous travel destination including:
-The construction of the Hoover Dam in 1928 which brought hundreds and thousands of construction workers into the area.
-In 1931 Nevada legalized gambling which lead to downtown Las Vegas becoming an entertainment hub for the dam workers.
-In 1941 Las Vegas welcomed it's first luxurious resort – El Rancho Vegas. 5 years later Bugsy Siegel would open the famous Flamingo Hotel which lit the fuse for the building boom which started the one-upmanship that continued unabated for the next 50 years.
